This week in Reception the children received an invite to a Teddy Bear picnic and were challenged to find find out about healthy foods to make for the picnic. The children discussed healthy and unhealthy foods and explored using fruits to create healthy smoothies after reading 'Handa's Surprise'. In Maths we have been exploring one less than a given number, using number songs like '10 in the Bed'. In Phonics we re capped our sounds taught so far and practised writing CVCC words. In P.E we practised our balancing skills, exploring how to balance with our body and moving around a space balancing a bean bag on our heads. Today we enjoyed a Woodland Learning session where we went on a hunt for worms. We sang the Nursery rhyme 'There's a Worm at the Bottom of the Garden' and discussed where worms live.

A brilliant week Year 3! In Literacy we started out work on The Stone Age Boy, in Reading we have been started How To Change The World and in Maths we have carried on our work with fractions. In Science we looked at different types of rocks, in DT we explored the meaning of seasonality, in Computing we looked at what stop motion is, in PSHE we the different types of relationships we have, in History we learnt about the Stone Age and in RWV we looked at how belief can influence actions. Well done Year 4 for a fantastic week back and a great start to the Spring 2 term. This week we have started our new topics, in Literacy we are exploring the Stone Age Boy book and immersed ourselves in the stone age, as in History we are learning all about the stone age! In SRE this week we looked at positive and negative changes that can happen and how these can make us feel and what strategies can we use to help us! In Science we explored different types of rocks and in PE we have been learning about Hockey and Fitness! Have a great weekend! Miss Harvey and Mrs Longthorne 🙂

Welcome back! A great start to the half term in Year 5! In Literacy, we have begun writing our retelling of the battle scene in Beowulf, ensuring to use our prior learning to include all elements of success criteria. In Maths, we have concluded our unit on multiplication and have now been introduced to the short division method. In Reading, we have made inferences surrounding our new next, The Garden of Lost Secrets, making wider links to the context of World War I. In Science, we investigated methods separate mixtures. In History, we were introduced to Anglo Saxons. We discussed push and pull factors, identifying why they came to Britain. In PE, we explored the different passes in netball, applying each passing technique to the correct context on the court. In DT, we completed an artist study, exploring how designers use embroidery techniques. In Computing, we explored the different tools in Visio to create vector drawings. 💚 Active Athlete 💚 Last weekend, Leni was entered for a double grading at karate. She had an intensive four-hour training session with a number of Blackbelt coaches where she was successful in gaining two new belts. Going from yellow/black stripe to orange/black stripe all in one day. Her family are so proud of her and so are we! 💜

💜 Active Citizen 💜 & 💙 Active Artiste 💙 Marnie received a special gift of a signed photo of a Norwich City footballer as she was one of the top fundraisers for the Run Norwich Event she took part in. She has also been busy during the holiday creating a diarama of a bedroom! 💜

💚 Active Athlete 💚 & 💙 Active Artiste 💙 Xaya took part in a baton twirling competition during the holidays. She came 2nd in all 3 categories she competed in and also received an All Catch award as she didn't drop her baton! Amazing skills! 💜

This week in Reception we have enjoyed the story 'Man on the Moon', the children learnt about the moon and tested gravity in fun experiments! We then learnt about the moon cycles and how people celebrate Lunar New Year around the world. The children learnt the story of the Great Race.

This week in Year 6 has been jam‑packed with creativity, curiosity and a little bit of fire! In Literacy, we became epic storytellers as we published our gripping battle narratives of the mighty clash between Grendel and Beowulf. Maths had us improving our percentage skills and tackling SATs‑style questions. In Science, we channelled Charles Darwin himself, investigating how different beaks affect natural selection using our very own “finch‑style” challenges. Our artistic side shone through as we evaluated our Giacometti‑inspired sculptures. In History we explored whether the Saxons were peaceful settlers or vicious invaders! PE saw us rolling, balancing and sequencing in gymnastics with groups, formations and apparatus. In PSHE, we thought about how to live in a more environmentally sustainable way. In Woodlands we finished the week with excitement (and safety first!) as we learned about fire‑making and even cooked over a firepit. What a brilliant week! Have a lovely half-term!

A brilliant week Year 3! In Literacy we have published our narratives, in Reading we have continued reading The Nothing To See Here Hotel and in Maths we have been looking at fractions. In Science we looked at changing shadow sizes, in Art we evaluated our final pieces, in Computing we programmed changes in characters and backgrounds and sound, in Geography we drew a bar chart based on who in the class wants to live near a volcano. What a way to end the half term Year 4! In Science we have investigated how the position of a light source changes the shape and size of a shadow! In Literacy we finished writing our letters to the Earth and then shared these with each other, to show the different causes of climate change! In RWV we discussed how our views could be similar to those of a humanist and shared how we can be kind, respectful and responsible this week. Wow! What an incredible half term we have had in Year 5! We are truly blown away by their dedication, curiosity, positive and resilient approach to their learning. In Literacy, we have continued with our text, Beowulf, linked to our History topic next half term. In Maths, we have consolidated long multiplication. In Reading, we concluded our text, Seven Ghosts. The children were well and truly shocked by the ending! In Science, we have been investigating which materials are soluble and insoluble. In Geography, we analysed how global organisations can work together to support the Amazon. In RWV, we discussed different Sikh festivals. In Art, we have worked incredibly hard this week to create our self-portraits inspired by the work of Chris Ofilli and the fauvist movement. These are truly incredible - we can't wait to proudly display these in our key stage area! Well done! Have a lovely half term everyone and a well-deserved break! See you soon!

Year 1 have had an exciting final week before half term 🙂 The children published their letters all about The Journey Home, focusing on the animals in the story. They were so proud to send their finished pieces off to Keir Starmer and Jimmy’s Farm. In RWV, the class explored Jewish festivals, learning about traditions, celebrations and why these moments are so important to Jewish families. In science, a definite highlight was our special visit from the owls. The children were fascinated as they learned about the features of a bird up close. Norfolk and Suffolk Community Dental Services Free Oral Health Parent Sessions Our free Parent Sessions are ideal for parents of children aged 0-5 years old. We can give advice on when to start brushing, how to encourage brushing and brushing independently, preventative measures to help reduce the risks of tooth decay, advice on registering with a dentist, and tips on what foods and drinks are more tooth-friendly, and which contain hidden sugars. 🌿 Year 2 Adventure at Carlton Marshes Year 2 had a fantastic day exploring Carlton Marshes! The children threw themselves into pond dipping, discovering all sorts of fascinating water creatures. They loved getting up close to nature on a guided walk, spotting birds, plants and signs of wildlife around the reserve. The highlight for many was bug hunting, where they searched high and low for minibeasts hiding in the grass and under logs. Their curiosity, teamwork and enthusiasm made the whole day a joy. A huge well done to all the children for representing the school so brilliantly — and thank you to the adults who supported the trip. What a brilliant outdoor learning experience for everyone 🌼

This week in Reception we read the story 'Smeds and Smoos', we talked about how the aliens felt and retold the story. The children designed their own aliens and thought of an imaginary planet they could live on. The children also enjoyed exploring different colours to mix together. In Phonics this week we recapped our sounds taught this term and in Maths the children explored odd and even numbers, we enjoyed singing 'The animals come in 2 by 2'.

We also enjoyed another fabulous ukulele session. A massive congratulations to our Y3 girls football team who took part in the football tournament this week.
