Westwood Planning Documents

At Westwood we provide a balance of child-initiated learning through play and adult-directed learning, as we understand children learn best through active learning and engaging with the world around them by participating in challenging activities. Planning is child centred and driven by children's interests and smart steps. This allows children to develop their own interests, ideas, confidence, collaboration and persistence. We recognise that children also need adult-directed learning to learn key skills, concepts and vocabulary. Our curriculum is designed to consider the things we want children to learn and experience. Learning is sequenced based on developmental milestones. Teaching is based on core books and used to develop a love of reading.
